Do you get a subtle, yet unmistakable niggling feeling that your work at the moment just doesn’t quite fit youHateJob somehow? Even if what you’re doing happens to be your own business, do you find yourself running out of steam and passion for your many projects? Or do you get sneaking, niggling thoughts that indicate a misalignment between your current career and what you really want? If the purpose isn’t quite there in your current role, maybe it’s time for you to alter your direction and start exploring new possibilities that that spark a sense of purpose and  passion and align with who you are in this red hot moment . Are you doing what your parents or your partner want you to do? Or are you really following your own passion and inspiration in your career? There is no inspiration in doing a business based on what you’re “supposed” to do. If you’re not turned on, you won’t turn anyone else on.

We are all familiar with people who achieve long-held goals, whether that be in their career or in another area only to find themselves falling flat emotionally with the horrific disappointment as to whether this is as good as it actually gets. These thoughts can arise at any stage, even when we’re heavily invested in a career or business. If we don’t listen at an early stage, the alarm clock gets increasingly loud, becoming more and more painful and we can become chronically misaligned. In the early stages this alarm clock can appear as a subtle ennui that most people easily ignore. However the longer we leave this, doing nothing to address the issue, the more difficult and challenging the wakeup call is likely to become.

  1. Core Values:

If this is you and you sometimes find yourself miserable within the empire you’ve struggled so hard to create, if you feel like your business and the beliefs you hold around it are holding you and your life hostage, the good news is that there is a way out of this situation. To leave this painful emotional state behind, you need to get clear on what you really want for your life. What are the values you are seeking to express in your mission? And the most obvious question of all what is it that you want to achieve in your life? What is it that you want to leave behind? What will be your legacy to future generations? I don’t have to tell you that being miserable is not going to take you further in that direction.

  1. Belief Systems

Next you need to take a hard look at the results in your life so far and get clear on what belief systems are currently in operation inside your head. For some the clarity of what to do is there, but there is massive fear as to how to move in that direction. Is it that you don’t think a change is possible at this ‘late’ stage? No matter how late you think you are, the truth is that it’s never actually too late unless you decide to believe and take that on for yourself. Maybe the anxiety about all the stuff you would have to learn is holding you back. Another word for learning is growth. So start looking at all that scary learning you may have to do and focus all the potential growth and opportunities that can spring out of this. Also, don’t hesitate to appreciate the transferrable skills you already have. No matter how different your new concept appears to be from your old role, you can bring massive value to this with the experience you carry with you.

Maybe you, like so many know that something isn’t quite right, but just have no freaking idea as to where you’re ‘supposed’ to be heading. The stuckness that so often arises from this usually stems from an overwhelming feeling of dread that moving will somehow cause all you know and all that is familiar to crumble down around you to reveal the terrifying void of the unknown. The trick with these kinds of feelings is to look and find what’s truly going on beneath. What’s the worst thing about the unknown? What are you really so afraid of? With the help of a good coach and some serious introspection the answers will arise and the truth will set you free.  Yes indeed, we can choose new belief systems and reinterpret our past to create a new and exciting present and future. Since nothing in life has any meaning other than the meaning we give it anyway, why not take the hint from the universe, don’t be a martyr to your old belief systems and actually do something about it.

So be brave and own up to yourself if what you’re doing now is no longer exciting you, if it seems to drain your life’s energy and motivation and leaves you feeling disempowered and anxious. Know that this is not who you truly are.  Own that misalignment and take the nudge from the universe to start you moving from misaligned misery to expansion, purpose, passion and enthusiasm. No matter where you are now, know that this is possible for you.

If this resonates with you and you are looking for a guide on this exciting journey feel free to get in touch for a no obligation strategy session. I can help you get clear on your current values; belief systems and can help you shift to more empowering beliefs. While this can happen really quickly I work with people over periods of 6 weeks to 6 months to ensure clarity, purpose, passion and excitement are deeply engrained in your new life.
